Happy New Year!!!
We want to wish you a Happy New Year from Take Hold Church!
The last 2.5 years here in Grand Rapids have been amazing!
We are anticipating yet another awesome year in 2012!
Will you spend this year in love and service with us?
Together, let's see and experience what God unfolds.
Take Hold Fest 2011
It is coming! Mark your calendars for Sunday November 20th, 2011! All our focus and planning is being poured into this free fest. This will be the third year with an awesome line up. Check the flyer and also stay tuned to the facebook page for the latest updates.
#artprize here and gone
ArtPrize 2011 is complete! Thanks to all the people who volunteered for the event at Take Hold! You're help and sacrifice is greatly appreciated. Its definitely a community job.
We got to be host to Pete Tabberer's The Old and the New which was a collection of 9 photographs. It was a contrast of old, neglected, manmade structures and the beautiful new growth of nature around it.
Carole Kabrin's Where No Man Has Gone Before was the only other Artprize artist in our space with her 5'x16' chalk pastel drawing of the cast of different Star Trek series. It was a sight to be seen.
We look forward to next year!
August 2011 Update
Greetings in the name of the Lord! Yes, it's been some time since we have updated our website. Our apologies for the lack of inspiration/motivation. The summer flew by and we were caught in the whirlwind. However, we are taking this opportunity to pause, reflect, and update you on some new and exciting news in the Take Hold camp. Here are a few things we would like to share with you...
- WORSHIP: We now have two worship services (we know we are crazy)! Currently, we hold worship services (prayer, Scripture, music, testimonies, etc.) on Sunday evenings at 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Our space isn't that big and hosting two services grants us some breathing room and room to grow. We are excited to share that we have children's church (ages 4-10) at the 5:00 pm service! Now, you have two worship services to choose from. Feel free to come on down and worship with us! Also, we have a new facebook community page. If you like to use FB for all your social media needs...check us out right here http://www.facebook.com/takeholdchurch and if Twitter is your thing...follow us here http://twitter.com/takeholdchurch
- OPEN HOUSE: On Tuesday, August 30 we will be hosting an "open house" from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm. This will be an excellent opportunity for you to come and check out the space, hear about our ministries, meet some people, and eat some goodies. We have been rolling for two years and we thought it might be a good time to open our doors and invite you to see where we minister, hear how we serve, and know who we are. If you would like to attend you can either rsvp to info@takeholdchurch.org or click "attend" on this link http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=263161637029435 We hope you can make it! Please let us know if you are planning on attending so we know how to best host you and others. Thanks!
- MINISTRY SCHOOL: Do you want to know more about the Bible? Have you considered attending Bible school? Do you want to know God's purpose for your life? Would you like to study Scripture with a cohort of people? If you can answer "yes" to any of these questions...please pray about joining our ministry school. On Tuesday, September 6 at 6:00 pm we will offer an information/orientation meeting down at the Take Hold space. Then, we will begin classes on Wednesday, September 7 starting at 6:00 pm. The courses we will be offering are Old Testament Survey, New Testament Survey, Systematic Theology, Spiritual Formation, and Mission/Discipleship. We will also be serving on a short-term mission trip next summer. Classes will take place every Wednesday evening starting in September of 2011 and ending in May of 2012. We will have breaks for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Break. Each course will cost, but scholarships will be available. If this is something that you are interested in...please come to our information/orientation meeting on September 6 at 6:00 pm. Hope to see you there!
- ARTPRIZE: We will be a venue again this year! ArtPrize is an awesome event that our city hosts which has become a national phenomenon and has reached the entire globe! You will see some amazing art displayed all over Grand Rapids. This event will begin September 21 and conclude October 9. If you live in Grand Rapids...you cannot miss it. If you live in Michigan...try to make it here. Don't forget to check out our space. You can check us out online right here http://www.artprize.org/venues/public-profile/401 We don't want to give anything away, but all we can say is we will be showing something from Star Trek (yes, it's true)! Also, we will be showing pieces from people within our community. We hope to see you downtown!
- UNIFIED UNDERGROUND: This fall, We will be making our third trip to Maryland for the annual Unified Underground conference http://www.unifiedunderground.com/2011 and we are getting stoked for this! The UU conference will take place September 30-October 2. This is always an excellent time to meet new people, be encouraged, receive teaching, and worship Jesus. We will be having a UU meeting down at the space on Tuesday, August 23 at 7:00 pm. If you are even thinking about attending the conference...please come to the meeting for more information.
- TAKE HOLD FEST: Our annual diverse FREE music fest will take place on Sunday, November 20! Save this date...you will NOT want to miss this. More information on bands and times will be coming. Check back soon. For now...check here http://www.facebook.com/takeholdfest
So there you have it...some updates for you. If you have any questions feel free to email info@takeholdchurch.org or comment here on our website. Thanks for checking us out...and thanks for reading...God Bless.

HEY ALL*,
I hope this note finds you well and serving Jesus! I wanted to write a short blurb and give you some additional information regarding this coming Sunday...
THE SHOW: I hope you are ready to come boogie w/ us this coming Sunday night! All four bands rule. All the members have true hearts. This night will be rad. This night is FREE!!! We will have a can at the door. The can will say, "Donations Please". Do not feel like you have to put anything in the can, but only if you can. The money you donate will go towards things like rent, utilities, toilet paper, etc. I want to thank you in advance for your donations!
THE CAUSE: I am wondering if you might be willing to search your homes or communities and bring down some warm clothes for cold people? We are currently accepting winter clothing/items for our Heartside community members. We are looking for gently used coats, hats, gloves, scarves, sweaters, boots, etc. for men, women, and children. Will you see if you have an item (or two) to donate? If so...bring the items to our space this Sunday. Believe me...we will find a home for your donations!
THE WORSHIP: I also want to invite you to join us for worship before the show. Will you think about coming down early to worship Jesus with us? Some boys from All Became New will be leading us in music and I am preparing a timely message on Jesus taken from the Gospel of Mark. I hope you can join us for an open and honest time of worship. We will have a time of community prayer before worship.
THE SCHEDULE**:
5:00 pm - Band Load In (optional)
6:00 pm - Community Prayer
7:00 pm - Worship
8:30 pm - Show
*I want to see you ALL here on Sunday!!!
**Donations will be accepted throughout the entire evening.

Pastor Shane

Information: We are storytellers. We make documentaries about war-affected children in east Africa and tour around the world.
We use the power of media to inspire young people to help end the longest running war in Africa. Our model has proven effective, and hundreds of thousands of people have been called to action through our films and the volunteers that tour them.
We are made up of a tireless staff, hundreds of full time volunteers, and thousands of students and supporters. We are young, we are citizens of the world, we are artists, activists, and entrepreneurs. We are mobilizing a generation to capture the attention of the international community, and make a stand for justice in the wake of genocide.
We believe that the problems of central Africa need to be tackled comprehensively, from peace to education. Solving them is no easy task, and it will take all of us doing all that we can to ensure it. Join us in the race for peace.
We hope you can join us!

As always our worship service is at 7pm on Sunday nights. You can arrive half an hour earlier for prayer. Come early to hangout and drink coffee and talk about Jesus or stay after to hangout [we usually frequent the Grand Coney on Michigan] and eat [breakfast, burgers, coney dogs - your choice] and talk about Jesus.
Stay gold.
